Hundreds of women turnout for a great cause!

The 11th Annual PartnerRe Women’s 5K saw over 800 participants take part in the popular run and walk to raise money for female causes in Bermuda.

From among a class field of women athletes, visiting Aussie Nikki Egyed was the 2008 winner in a time of 18.33, closely followed by Victoria Fiddick in 18.49 and Kim McMullen in 19.59. Weather conditions were near-perfect yet again.

Shuntae Hendrickson led the under-16 pack around the Juniors’ 3.2K course, finishing in a time of 12.29. She won her age group, as did Zakiyyah Showers.

In the Competitive Walk, Susannah Frith was first in 32.52, followed by Shona Palmer in 32.55 and Davina Dickinson in 34.00.

Some 400 women and girls also turned out for the 5K Fun Walk along the same course, some pushing baby strollers or accompanied by pet dogs.

Bermuda High School won the Schools Award, a $500 cash prize given to the school with the most finishers.

Among company teams, staff from Bermuda High School were tops, winning the Corporate Trophy. Other firms with large contingents included PartnerRe, Saltus Grammar School, PwC, Catlin, XL Capital and Renaissance Re.
